Costa Rica: MICITT announces launch of Digital Alliance between EU and LATAM
The Ministry of Science, Technology and Telecommunications ('MICITT') announced, on 14 March 2023, that it had participated in the launch of the Digital Alliance between the EU and the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean. Moreover, the MICITT detailed that the objective of the Digital Alliance is to promote the development of secure, resilient, and human-centred digital infrastructures, and to seek to ensure an environment conducive to development, placing a strong emphasis on privacy and digital rights.
Lastly, the MICITT highlighted that it is working for the country to join the Digital Economy Partnership Agreement ('DEPA'), and thus promote inclusive and sustainable digital trade, in addition to supporting the existence of an open, global, and non-discriminatory internet, which acts as a catalyst for creativity and innovation.
