Chongqing: Municipality promotes collaborative governance of personal information collected by apps

The Municipality of Chongqing announced, on 11 October 2021, that it along with five departments jointly issued an Opinion on Strengthening the Collaborative Governance of the Collection and Use of Personal Information in Violations of apps. In particular, the Municipality noted that the opinion is meant to assist in facilitating the coordinated governance and dynamic supervision of the illegal collection and use of personal information by apps. In addition, the Municipality highlighted that the opinion points out that it is necessary to promote the governance of the collection and use of personal information on apps through the rule of law, and actively promote the construction of a collaboration pattern to realise the full-chain supervision of the protection of personal information of app users. Furthermore, the Municipality noted that the Chongqing Communications Administration has further strengthened the normalisation of app supervision, and recently tested more than 100 apps, finding more than 70 that have problems.
