Cambodia: AKP announces approval of draft law on competition in 2020

The Agence Kampuchea Presse ('AKP') announced, on 15 November 2019, that Cambodia will approve its draft law on competition ('the Draft Law') in 2020. In particular, the AKP noted that the Minister of Commerce, Pan Sorasak, had emphasised that the Draft Law will be employed in conjunction with the draft e-commerce and consumer protection laws in order to, among other things, boost trade, promote fair competition, and protect consumers' interests in line with technological developments. In addition, the AKP highlighted that Sorasak's comments were made at the 8th ASEAN Competition Conference, and that Sorasak had called for close cooperation among ASEAN nations in relation to knowledge and information sharing.
