Schleswig-Holstein: ULD publishes 2021 annual report

The Schleswig-Holstein data protection authority ('ULD') announced, on 22 February 2022, that it had published its 2021 Annual Report. In particular, the ULD highlighted the role of the COVID-19 pandemic in shaping the ULD's activities. In addition, the ULD highlighted, among other things, that it had received 1,464 complaints about alleged data protection violations and that, compared to the previous year, the number of data breach reports increased by around 60%. Specifically, the ULD noted that some of the data breaches that occurred related to the processing of personal data in relation to COVID-19 vaccine or testing activities.

In addition, the ULD outlined that the majority of the data protection violations occurred were cause by careless or grossly negligently behaviour.
