Minnesota: Bill for modifying requirements for release of patient health records re-referred to House Judiciary Finance and Civil Law Committee

On February 22, 2024, House Bill 3443 modifying the requirement for the release of patient health records was amended by the Minnesota House Health Finance and Policy Committee and re-referred to the Judiciary Finance and Civil Law Committee on the same date.

In particular, the bill highlights that the sections regarding the release of patient health records should be interpreted to protect the privacy of patient's health records in a 'more stringent' manner. The bill provides that 'more stringent' should hold the same meaning as the one provided in the Code of Federal Regulations.
