Chile: Bill for cybersecurity and critical information infrastructure introduced in Senate

Bulletin No. 14.847-06 for a Bill to Establish a Framework Law on Cybersecurity and Critical Information Infrastructure was introduced, on 15 March 2022, to the Chilean Senate. In particular, the bill would establish the necessary institutions to strengthen cybersecurity, expand and strengthen preventive work, create a public culture of digital security, regulate relationships and cooperation between the public and private sectors, and safeguard the security of individuals in cyberspace.

More specifically, the bill would be divided into ten main titles, and would, among other things:

  • establish a regulatory framework on cybersecurity;
  • establish responsibilities and associated duties for public and private bodies; and
  • outline minimum requirements for the prevention and resolution of cybersecurity incidents.

You can read the bill and track its progress here, both only available in Spanish.
